“Parents can only give good advice or put them on the right paths, but the final forming of a person’s character lies in their own hands.” Anne Frank (http://www.wisdomquotes.com/cat_education.html)

It means that parents can teach and try to let their child go the right way in doing good things, but the person at the end making the decision is yourself. Even though our parents teach you good things, you can do bad things too. Making up your mind at the end is yourself.

“You must learn day by day, year by year, to broaden your horizon. The more things you love, the more you are interested in, the more you enjoy, the more you are indignant about, the more you have left when anything happens.” Ethel Barrmore (http://www.wisdomquotes.com/cat_education.html)

I think it means that when you are interested in some thing, and something happens to you or someone else, you have something left in ou, than not learning anything.

“Ye can lead a man up to the university, but you can’t make him think.” Finley Peter Dunne (http://www.wisdomquotes.com/cat_education.html)

It means something similar to the Anne Frank quote that I put. It means that ou can lead and make someone go to college or univercity, but the one who thinks reall is the person getting taught. You can’t force someone to think, nor do you know if the really ARE thinking inside.

Education, therefore, is a process of living and not a preparation for future living.” John Dewey (http://www.wisdomquotes.com/cat_education.html)

I think it means that education is something that ou need to live and is not something for your future. If ou have education, you can live through ou life.

“The only real mistake is the one from which we learn nothing.” John Powell (http://www.wisdomquotes.com/cat_education.html)

Mistakes that we make that we learn from is a good mistake, because you won’t make the same mistake after that. The really bad mistakes that we make are ones that we don’t learn from even if we do it over and over again.

” The beautiful thing about learning is that no one can take it away from you.” B.B. King (http://www.heartquotes.net/Education.html)

Nobody can stand from making ou learn and that is something good about learning things.

“Good schools, like good societies and good families, celebrate and cherish diversity.” Deborah Meier (http://drwilliampmartin.tripod.com/bigedlist.htm)

The meaning to this quote is probably being different from others is a really good thing and you should be happy about it.

“The aim of education, should be rather to teach us how to think, than what to think.” James Beattie (http://www.inspirational-quotes.info/quotes-about-education.html)

It means that education should not teach us about what to think of, but how to think about something.

Tell me and I’ll forget. Show me, and I may not remember. Involve me, and I’ll understand.” Native American Saying (http://www.inspirational-quotes.info/quotes-about-education.html)

You may forget about what someone tells you, what someone shows you, but if you get involved into what to learn, you will definately remember about it.

Whatever is good to know is difficult to learn.” Greek Proverb (http://www.inspirational-quotes.info/quotes-about-education.html)

Anything that is good to learn about, is most of the time hard to understand or hard to learn. That is why, when you learn something that you think is hard, you get happy and proud of yourself!

Ethical Dilema (#4)

1.) What do you think Mary should do?
I think Mary should just try to ignore them. If she tells a teacher and the girls find out, she might be in bigger trouble with them. It might not really be the high school girls. It also maybe the boys that got foled by her, and from their anger, they might send her scary notes.
2.)Would you do the same thing?
I think yes. Ignoring the notes wouldn’t get you in more trouble, and I think it would be the best way. You can also count n your friends. Show them the note, and talk with them about it. They might give ou good advice too.
3.) What do you think would happen to someone in your school who was in Mary’s situation? (I.e. would she get backlash for hooking up with older guys? Would people gossip about her?)
The same thiing might happen or it might be worse. Things like this might happen:
  • weird notes in your locker
  • getting weird rumors about you
  • scribbles on your things…etc.
4.) How does gossip play a role in your school, in your community?
Rumors that go around our school isn’t as bad I think. Its just that it might be about someone liking someone, even though its not true. People who like rumors just spread it to EVERYONE…
5.) Have you ever been in a situation similar to Mary’s? How was it resolved?
I’ve never gotten notes like that, but I think mostly everyone has had a experience of have a weird rumor. The rumor that I had was about me liking a boy that I didn’t really like. I was reall shocked, hurt, sad, and mad when that rumor went around. People kept on asking me, ” You like ******* right?” and when I say that I don’t they say that they heared it from the other person.
6.) Why do you think people gossip? Have you ever gossiped about someone? Why do you think you did?
Gossiping is intresting and fun to hear when its not about yourself, but once it comes to you being teased, its really irritating and frustrating. I have heard ALOT (I mean ALOT) of rumors about people and they get teased about it. I’ve never started a rumor of someone, but I’ve spead it to one or two of my friends that I trust. I think thats why rumors and gossips go around. I think I told someone because I couldn’t really believe it and I wanted to tell someone about it.

Pam on a diet…(#3)

I think she should first try to talk to Pam and tell her that she isnt fat at all. And if that doesn’t work, I think she should try to convince Pam to eat something more than pills and grapes. She can try to make the food more and more each da, like a grape into a banana, a banana into the apple. That may be better than eating just 4 grapes. If she doesn’t want to eat anything, I think she should just tell a teacher. If Pam finds out, I’m shure she’ll be mad, but I think its better than seeing our friend getting worse and worse everyday. In the futsure if she finds out that Maria had saved her, they might become friends again.

1.)Do you agree with Maria? Do you think she should tell someone about Pam?

Yes, I think she should tell a teacher about her. I think it is dangerous leaving Pam to just eat grapes and pills everyday.

2.)If so, who do you think she should tell?

I think maybe a teacher or an adult that she trusts.

3.)What do you think Maria should say if Pam asks her if she told someone?

I think she should tell Pam first without just going to someojne and telling them. That way, if you convince her good enough she might stop. Then you won’t have the need to tell anyone.

4.)Have you ever been in a position like this? What happened? Would you make the same choices if you were in that position again?

I don’t think I’ve ever been in a situation like that, but if I did, I think I would do the stuff that I said In the question above.Like trying to help or stop her, or making her eat more. If that doesn’t work, I would talk to someone I trust, or a teacher and tell them about it.

LEADERSHIP

1.) In your own words, what do you think a LEADER should be?

I think a leader should be able to control the people and make them listen to what the say. They should also think about the country and the poeple living in it. A good leader should think about and also solve the money problem and whatever problem the country/group is having.

2.) What are the qualities of a person that a leader should have?

A person should have intelligence and knows how to control and take care of things, but of course they should care for the people in his or her country. They should be able to solve whatever problems they face and the people face.

3.) Who is the leader that you look up to or insipred by?

I think that Martin Luther King was a very good leader because he stood up for the rights of the black people and also never gave up on it. He spoke a really famous and good speach called, “I Have a Dream” and it was about a dream of his, that the black and white people getting along together.

4.) If you were a leader, what would you do? What would you be a leader of?

I would try to think of what is best for the country or group. Though being a good leader is really hard, but I think its worth trying hard because you are the one protecting the place, and you need to lead them. Making laws would be really hard since you wouldn’t know what is really good and what is bad. My opinion and the other’s opinion willl be different and I wouldn’t know which is right or not. I would want to be a leader of a place like Japan. Not reall big, but neither small. It still would be hard but not as hard as ruling a place like the United States since it is so big.

5.) What kind of leader do you think you’ll be?

I think I would be a regular leader who rules but not becoming really famous like Abraham Lincoln. I will never do things like killing people, like of what some of the leaders did. I don’t know if I can handle the people, but I will do my best and I will never kill anyone.

Today, we learned new sites to do research. One of the sites that amazed me was GahooYoogle, something that has yahoo and gogle added together. It shows whst google thinks is #1 and what yahoo thinks is #1 in one site. The page is divided into two parts and the left is yahoo, and the right is google. Another site that we learned today was cluster.com and that site clusters everything together. For example, if you look you guam, ou will find hotels, schools, and government, etc…

On Friday and today, we watched an animated music thing called ANIMUSIC. The one that I liked the most was the first one (Harmonic Voltage) and the one with the balls (Pipe Dreams). I liked how the things moved, and the sounds that they made.

pipe-t.jpg PIPE DREAMS   Animusic2-StarshipGrooveWide.jpg HARMONIC VOLTAGE

I think that it took a LONG time to make it. There are two types of ANIMUSIC, but we only watched the second one. Still, I think I’ll like the second one better. I like PIPE DREAMS, because of how the balls move in it. I can’t believe that the balls go into the pipe so perfectly. I liked HARMONIC VOLTAGE because of the like people like robots that make music. They move so smoothy and the sounds that they make!!!

We did this test that tells you what kind of personality you are, and its called CCQ (California Child Q-Set). It has about 100 questions.

The first result that i got was 56/100% for Extraverision. (from below 50, it is low scorers) I think that this is an ok score since I don’t tend to get in trouble alot in class. I tey to keep quiet. It says that high scorers are outgoing and sociable.

Then next result that i got was 66/100% for Agreeableness. I think that this fits me, because I sometimes become cold to those that I don’t really like.

Then I got a result of 75% of conscientiosness. I think that this score should have been higher for me, since I try to be organized, and I like do my homework  at a sertain time.

I got a result of 60 for neuroticism. It says that high scorers are sensitive and emotional. I think that this fits me too, because I tend to cry alot…even in animational movies.

Finally I got 77 for the last result. It says that high scorers like to do new things. I like to do new things if I do it with others. I don’t like to do new things by myself.

Should students be allowed to bring cellphones to school?

Should students be allowed to bring cellphones to school?

I think it should be allowed because if there is an emergency, you can get contact with our parents fast. People might think, “Then why don’t you use the school one?” but people may not have money (25 cents) to call them. We now aren’t allowed to use the office one, so we have no other thing to call them if you don’t have money. Advantages are that you can call your parents fast, but the disadvantage of bringing cellphones to school is that is may get stolen by someone, since there has been things happening like that. Another disadvantage is that is ma ring during class, so you should keep it ff during class time. We most of the time use the cellphones for projects. We talk about it during classtime, and suddenly there is a meeting taht day. That is when you need your cellphone.

In history, we chose a leader that we’re going to research about. We chose a leader called Hatshepsut who ruled over Egypt. I wanted to do another leader, but we chose this person because theres smething special about this peson…l know soon. The person that I wanted (I forgot his name) wanted just one god, while the people wanted man god. The guy even changed his name to show that he believed in the god Aton. I think he changed it to a name that meant “he who believes in Aton”. I’m still kind of sick, and atlast I can run a little, and eat regular food. I thought that we wouldn’t do that much work in P.E. since we were outside, but it turn out that we had to run about 15 laps…m stomach hurted alot after that…I couldn’t reall stand up…

Over the summer break, I went to Japan. I did things like going to see fireworks, going to OMATSURI (that is like a big party in Japanese), and most of ll, I was just at the house just watching the TV. I really enjoyed that because the TV Japan is reall fun to watch. In Japan, you get homework over the summer, so I was also helping my cousin do it. At the end of the trip, we went to this hotel called Prince Hotel. We went to a place something like Underwater Worlds. There was also a show for dolphins…but what I really wanted to see was the seal show.(it was over for the day already) Still the dlphin show was fun. We got kind of wet, because everytime the dolphin jumps, we got water splashed. The next day, m mom had work, so we just watched a movie there. We watched a movie called “Brave Story”. It is a story that a boy named Wataru goese to this world to change his future. To change the future, you need all 5(?) stones, and do to the Godess. It was really fun!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
